CORNPOP

Cornpop

Intake Date: September 2022

Cornpop aka Cornlop was transferred to us from our local shelter after he started suddenly having seizures. He was started on keppra right away and was doing really well for a few months until he started having really bad seizures. We added a second anti-epileptic medication which helped for a bit, but then he'd start having seizures again. We had a consult at a specialty clinic to see if there were any other options and they recommended a different drug and adding an antibiotic, so we started that. Unfortunately that didn’t help, and Cornpop was still having breakthrough seizures and regular seizure activity, and we realized his condition wasn’t going to improve any further with medication.

We knew that Cornpop’s condition could only be managed for so long before he suffered brain damage from the seizures, and we wanted to ensure he could remain somewhere familiar where he could be closely monitored. Because of this, we made the decision to keep Cornpop in the rescue, so that he could live out the rest of the days in his current foster home, where he’s happy as can be and so, so loved.
